One of the most common questions I get asked as an artist is, "When did you learn to draw?" I have always drawn, even back before I entered elementary school, and my favorite subject has always been faces. My father is a professional artist and he encouraged me. I entered my first art show at the age of 16 and over the years have won over 20 awards (including best of show) in state and county fairs, festivals and juried shows. I was raised in the Southwest and lived in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado and California before moving to Indiana in 2000. I have been a resident of the Wabash Valley since 2004.
My work has been in galleries in Scottsdale, Arizona, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Terre Haute, Indiana. While residing in Arizona, I was a member of the Arizona Cowboy and Indian Artists.
I was an art major at Arizona State University with a minor in art history. I started doing pastels and oils in high school and later took up watercolor--a medium that has become my favorite. I am currently a member of the Wabash Valley Art Guild and an associate member of the Covered Bridge Art Association. In May of 2008 I won Best of Show in the Wabash Valley Art Guild's 31st Annual Spring Show. I also took second place in the painting category.
I have always been "star struck" and love movies. My early portraits were almost always movie stars. My portraits of celebrities have been sold all over the world. I have also studied the American Indian culture and traveled extensively throughout the West. Besides my movie star portraits, I have rendered over 100 Indians from various tribes.
You have heard the advice for success:
"Do what you love, and I love drawing faces. Each person I do is special and a challenge to capture."
Thanks for checking out my website and I hope you enjoy my artwork.
